Acre has regular performance in access to justice and low scores in all other dimensions
Acre scored 26.5 points on the Environmental Democracy Index, ranking eighth among the states of the Legal Amazon. Overall performance was classified as "poor", with only one regular result in the Access to Environmental Justice dimension.
With 47.1 points, the justice dimension was the best evaluated. It is one of the few states with top scores in the indicators for responsiveness to environmental and agrarian demands. The indexes for gender and racial diversity in the judiciary also stood out. On the other hand, there is a lack of environmental and agrarian courts and specialized structures in the state's Public Defender's Office.
In the other dimensions, the results were quite low. In Access to Environmental Information, Acre registered 28.4 points ("bad"), with total unavailability of 20 of the 29 categories of information evaluated. The Access to Participation dimension scored similarly (27.5 points - "bad"), reflecting the fragility of participatory bodies in the state.
The worst result was recorded in the Protection of Environmental Defenders dimension, with only 2.9 points ("very bad"). The state has no protection program for environmental defenders. There are also no protocols for public security agents in cases involving defenders and the use of body cameras in environmental or land conflicts.
